Rosemary Williams Obituary

Rosemary Williams of 2133 Courtney Drive, Jacksonville, Florida entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 22, 2024 at UF Health Jacksonville, Hospice.

Rosemary was the daughter of the late Ray Williams, Sr. and Rosa Mae Williams. She had one brother to precede her in death, Ray Williams, Jr. (Arlene). She is survived by her sister, Novella Williams; brother, Robinson "Bobby" Williams; and sister-in-law, Arlene Nicholas Williams. Also, a "special sister”, Robin Williams Marshall; two nieces, Rollin Scott of Greece, NY and Jorryn Dickenson, US Marine Corps, Camp Lejeune, NC. Rosemary had two devoted friends who lovingly assisted in her care, Veronica Lee and Phillis Varnado.

Baptized at an early age, Rosemary loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Jacksonville for more than forty years, where she served on the Chancel Choir.

Rosemary was educated in the Duval County School System and a 1969 graduate of Edward Waters College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She went on to earn a Master’s Degree at Florida A&M University where she was initiated into the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

Rosemary began her teaching career at Isaiah Blocker Elementary and retired from Dinsmore Elementary School after thirty-five years of dedicated service. Not only did she teach, but also organized the School Safety Patrol, the Choir and other school programs. She was highly regarded and respected by fellow teachers, school administrators and staff. She had a profound love for all of her students and referred to them as her "babies", even after they were adults. Many of them went on to become educators because of her influence in their lives. She shared a special bond with each of them.

Rosemary was truly a delight and an inspiration to her family and friends. We will always cherish her memory and she will live on forever in our hearts.
